This manual provides a system description and start-up guide for ABB ACS800-67 wind turbine converters. It covers the system components, converter system architecture, control of generator power, operating speed ranges, torque and reactive power control, and interfaces. It also details start-up procedures for low and medium voltage stators, practical examples for setup, and troubleshooting of warnings, limits, and faults.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Fault Cause What to do
Pulse encoder pulses or zero pulse are missing or wrong Generator overcurrent fault
Speed / position / RTAC module fault
If the encoder is of unisolated type, check that the cable is grounded only on converter side.
In case of wrong encoder direction, check the pulse encoder phasing (A/B channels).
Check the type and connection of the encoder; differential encoder is recommended.
Current value is wrong.
Torque actual value does not correspond to the reference value.
Faulty current transformer inside power module Check the current transformer.
Check the values in parameter group 99.
There is reactive power without reference. Wrong values in parameter group 99 in the rotor-side converter control program Check the values in parameter group 99.
Torque oscillates and overcurrent fault occurs.
Current imbalance fault
Earth fault
