Read these instructions carefully before installation and use them as a guide during installation and initial operation. Keep this book available for the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
These instructions cover requirements for installation, setup, checkout, and maintenance of ABB medium voltage Motor Control Centers (MCCs). They do not cover all variations and combinations of equipment and installations. Specific installation details are provided in Bills of Materials, general arrangement drawings, single line diagrams, floor plans, construction details, elementary diagrams, and connection diagrams.
Equipment operation depends on proper handling, installation, and maintenance. Neglecting fundamental requirements may lead to personal injury, equipment failure, and property damage. Safety notations alert personnel to potential hazards and appear before the relevant steps. Hazard levels include WARNING (death or serious injury) and CAUTION (minor or moderate injury).
Upon receipt, examine shipments for damage or loss, checking contents against the packing list. Notify the carrier and ABB of any discrepancies. For structural integrity, ensure all doors and panels are in place before moving. Do not move frames with drawout equipment installed. Store equipment indoors in a well-ventilated area with a dry, paved floor, ideally between 23°F (-5°C) and 104°F (40°C) with 50% maximum humidity.
