The Arc Guard System™™ quickly detects an arc and trips the incoming circuit-breaker instantaneously using light as the primary condition. It overrides other protections and delays, crucial for millisecond reaction times. The system comprises the Arc Monitor TVOC-2, optical sensors, and the Current Sensing Unit CSU-2. Optional current sensing units can be added to prevent false tripping from strong light. The basic function involves detection via optical sensor, recognition by determining light intensity (and optionally current), and action through trip contact closing.
Troubleshooting and error codes
| Error code | Description | Recommended actions |

| Ix LL | Input x low light | Degenerated LED at connected CSU-2/TVOC-2 unit. The unit in the other end should be replaced. |
| Ix NL | Input x no light | Make sure that light is transmitted by units connected to the optical input connector and that the optical cable is not damaged. |
| CS Lx/N | Current sensor Lx/N | Connect cable from current sensor. |
| IE PS | Internal error power supply | Check if auxiliary voltage to CSU-2 is low (>24VAC/DC), if not, it is an internal power supply error in which case CSU-2 should be replaced. |
| IE Ix | Internal error input x | CSU-2 should be replaced. |
| IE OO | Internal error optical output | CSU-2 should be replaced. |
| IE DC | Internal error daisy chain | CSU-2 should be replaced. |
