Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
System not booting after applying power Refer to the "Power-on Problems" section for corrective measures.
Harmful interference to radio or television reception
  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/television technician for help.
SCSI Bus Problems
  • Check if power cables and SCSI interface cables are properly connected.
  • Ensure pin-1 orientation is maintained throughout the SCSI bus.
  • Verify PCI bus and slot parameters are set correctly in the computer's Setup program.
  • Ensure each SCSI device, including the SCSI controller, is set to a unique SCSI ID.
  • Check if SCSI termination is set correctly.
SCSI Initialization Failure See "BIOS Startup Messages" for specific error messages and their meaning. Follow the recommended steps, which may include adjusting Extended BIOS Translation in the SCSISelect utility and performing a low-level format.
Device connected, but not ready (SCSI)
  • Run SCSISelect utility, access SCSI Device Configuration, locate host controller's SCSI ID, and set Send Start Unit Command to 'yes'.
  • Exit SCSISelect and request data again.
  • If the message persists, follow drive manufacturer's instructions for spin-up.
Start unit request failed (SCSI)
  • Run SCSISelect utility and disable Send Start Unit Command for the device.
  • Check SCSI bus termination and cable connections. One of the devices may be defective.
