- **Impact Drilling:** Wear ear protection. Use auxiliary handles if supplied. Hold by insulated gripping surfaces when cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or own cord.
- **Safety and Working:** Use protective equipment including safety glasses, dust mask, gloves, sturdy footwear, helmet, and ear defenders. Avoid inhaling dust. Do not machine materials hazardous to health (e.g., asbestos).
- **Tool Stalling:** Switch off immediately if the insertion tool stalls. Do not restart while stalled to avoid recoil. Determine and rectify the cause of stalling.
- **Hot Tool:** The insertion tool may become hot during use. Beware of burns when changing tools or setting the device down.
- **Cable Management:** Keep the mains lead clear of the machine's working range. Lead the cable away behind you.
- **Working in Walls/Ceilings/Floors:** Take care to avoid electric cables and gas or water pipes.
- **Workpiece Securing:** Clamp your workpiece with a clamping device. Unclamped workpieces can cause injury.
- **Disconnecting Power:** Always disconnect the plug from the socket before carrying out any work on the machine.
- **Large Drill Diameters:** Fasten the auxiliary handle at a right angle to the main handle (see illustrations).
- **Cold Hammering:** If stored at cold temperatures, lubrication may stiffen. Insert bit, place tool on scrap concrete, and cycle trigger. Allow 15 seconds to 2 minutes for normal hammering.
