To operate the Agfa Paramat, first set the focusing symbol. Look through the viewfinder and press the release button. A green viewfinder signal indicates "All clear" for the photo. Then, press the shutter release all the way down to take the exposure. The camera can be loaded in daylight, but it's best to do so in the shade. Follow the numbered steps for film loading, ensuring the film cassette's hole engages with the rewind crank. After loading, turn the take-up spool until the film perforation lug is uppermost, then draw out the film. Insert the film end into the slit, ensuring the lug engages correctly. Turn the take-up spool slightly to ensure the film is taut and the transport wheel engages with the perforations. Close the camera by carefully aligning the edges and securing the back. Set the film counter by turning the milled disc to align the appropriate triangle with the fixed mark, based on the film length. For shooting, swivel the rapid transport lever to the right and allow it to return, then press the shutter release. Repeat this process until the desired exposure count is reached.
