Basic Operation of your Asahi Pentax MX Camera:

  1. Set Film Speed: Depress the button on the shutter dial and turn the rim to align the film's ASA number in the window.
  2. Cock Rapid-Wind Lever: Move the lever fully until it stops. A red "Cocked" indicator will appear.
  3. Set Shutter Speed: Turn the shutter speed dial to your desired speed.
  4. Compose and Focus: Look through the viewfinder and turn the focusing ring until the image is sharp.
  5. Set Exposure: Pull the rapid-wind lever slightly and depress the shutter button halfway to activate the meter. Adjust the aperture ring until the green LED dot indicates correct exposure.
  6. Release Shutter: Hold the camera firmly and trip the shutter. Recock the lever for the next shot.

Always avoid direct light when loading or unloading film.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Blurry Pictures Camera Movement Use a faster shutter speed, hold camera steady, use tripod.
No Exposure Meter Reading Batteries depleted Replace batteries.
