  1. Training: Read instructions, be familiar with controls, never allow untrained persons or children to use, do not mow with people or pets nearby, operator is responsible for accidents, no passengers. Seek professional instruction.
  2. Preparation: Wear appropriate footwear, inspect area for thrown objects, handle fuel safely (outdoors, no smoking, refuel before starting, etc.), check for faulty parts.
  3. Operation: Mow only in daylight, disengage blades before starting, do not use on slopes over 10°, be aware of slope hazards, never mow across slopes, use care with loads, do not turn sharply, watch for traffic, stop blades before crossing non-grass surfaces, never discharge material towards bystanders, never operate with defective guards, do not overspeed engine.
  4. Before leaving operator's position: Disengage PTO, lower attachments, shift to neutral, set parking brake, stop engine, remove key.
  5. Safety precautions: Disengage drive to attachments before cleaning, checking, or working on the mower, after striking an object, or if abnormal vibration occurs. Stop engine and disengage drive before refueling, removing grass catcher, or making height adjustments. Reduce throttle and shut off fuel at conclusion of mowing.
  6. Maintenance and Storage: Keep fasteners tight, never store with fuel indoors, allow engine to cool before storing, keep engine area clean, check grass catcher, replace worn parts, drain fuel outdoors.
