Holding the Camera: Hold the camera in your left hand. Operate the trigger and focusing knob with your right index finger, and the zoom with your thumb.
Lens Cap: Open by pressing the bar with your right index finger.
Fitting Handgrip: Screw into the front of the camera; the baseplate fits beneath the handle.
Fitting Shoulder Strap: Insert metal part under camera, pivot plastic piece a quarter turn to lock. Pull to remove.
Inserting Batteries: Open cover, insert batteries according to diagram inside. Check needle in viewfinder moves correctly.
Adjusting Eyepiece: Open cover, move zoom to telephoto, aim at object over 200 ft away, turn adjuster until image is clear. Ensure ground-glass grain is sharp. Close cover.
Film Sensitivity: Use artificial light color film (40-160 ASA) or B&W/daylight color film (25-100 ASA).
Loading Film: Open magazine, insert film with exposed section forward and indicator to right. Close cover firmly.
Conversion Filter: Adjust knob according to film type and light. Use "artificial light" setting for B&W film 160-200 ASA.
Filming: Frame subject with zoom lever. Focus by moving zoom to telephoto, turning knurled ring until image is sharp.
Automatic Diaphragm: Film as long as needle is between shoulders. Position (a) is f/1.9, to the right indicates insufficient light. Position (b) is f/16.
Exposure Level: Adjust exposure by moving the adjustment screw ( '-' to lighten, '+' to darken).
Accessory Filter: Fit neutral density filter by removing black plug and inserting filter.
Film Counter: Indicates unexposed film remaining in seconds. Red background means low film. Camera stops when film runs out.
Multitrix: Fits on handgrip for filming titles, postcards etc.
Use Multitrix: Card holder against stop, grooves away. Place card in grooves. Focus in telephoto. Frame with zoom, leaving margin. Film with light from shoulder.
Title on Acetate: Draw on sheet, insert into holder. Vary focal length, focus, and position for effects.
Filming Slides: Fix slide on acetate or cardboard. Insert into holder. Film with diffused white light or colored background for effects.
Maintenance: Do not take mechanism apart. Keep interior clean. Clean lens and filters with special paper. Fold lens cap over lens after use. Avoid dust and fingerprints.
Lubrication: Requires infrequent lubrication. Take to distributor after 2-3 years.
Tropical Regions: Use special airtight boxes and chemicals.
