  1. Insert a Super 8 film cartridge and set the CCA filter switch for daylight.
  2. Set the shutter lock dial to "R", aperture control to "AUTO", and filming speed to "18".
  3. Look through the viewfinder and focus in telephoto.
  4. Check the exposure meter needle and adjust composition by zooming.
  5. Pull the trigger to shoot.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Cause Remedy
Electric eye does not function. Mercury batteries are not properly inserted. Load batteries correctly (Page 7).
Shutter lock dial is not at "R". Set shutter lock dial to "R" (Page 12).
Mercury batteries are exhausted. Replace batteries (Page 7).
Film does not advance. Shutter lock dial is at "L". Set shutter lock dial to "R" (Page 13).
Batteries are exhausted. Replace batteries (Page 8).
Film cartridge is not properly inserted. Load film cartridge correctly (Page 9).
Zooming is jerky. Zooming mechanism is dirty. Clean mechanism.
Picture is not sharp. Focus is not adjusted correctly. Adjust focus (Page 11).
Wrong aperture. Adjust aperture (Page 15).
Exposure is too light or too dark. Exposure meter is inaccurate. Check batteries, ensure shutter lock is at "R", and subject is properly lit. Use ND filter for over-exposure (Page 12).
