Getting Started
This manual will guide you through the basics of using your camcorder's Wi-Fi functions.
Introduction to Wi-Fi
Connect your camcorder to a smartphone or tablet to wirelessly save, play back, and transfer recordings. You can even use your smartphone or tablet as a remote control.
Wi-Fi Connection Types:
- Wi-Fi Connection A: Use the Wi-Fi Remote app for remote control and recording with iOS or Android devices.
- Wi-Fi Connection B: Connect to your iOS, Android device, or computer to view recordings via a web browser.
- Wi-Fi Connection C: Use the Movie Uploader app to transfer recordings to an iOS device for uploading to YouTube and Facebook.
- Wi-Fi Connection D: Connect to a wireless router (access point) to save recordings to a computer or FTP server.
- Wi-Fi Connection E: Connect to a network and use the media server function to play back recordings on a connected device via LAN cable.
- Wi-Fi Connection F: Connect to a wireless router to access CANON IMAGE GATEWAY and share videos on YouTube and Facebook.
Important Notes:
- Using an unprotected Wi-Fi network can expose your files and data.
- Do not open the memory card slot cover when using Wi-Fi functions (except for remote control).
- The camcorder's auto power-off function is disabled when using Wi-Fi functions (except for remote control).
About the Wi-Fi Antenna:
Do not cover the back of the camcorder as the Wi-Fi antenna is located there and covering it may interfere with wireless signals.
Troubleshooting and error codes
| Problem | Possible Cause/Solution |
|---|---|
| Cannot connect with the Wi-Fi-enabled device. | - Communication range varies with signal strength. Try moving closer to the device. - Interference from cordless phones, microwaves, refrigerators may affect the signal. Try using the camcorder further away from these appliances. |
| Another user is already controlling the camcorder. Try again later. | Multiple Wi-Fi devices are trying to connect. Ensure only one device is attempting to connect and touch [Retry]. |
| Memory card cover is open | Memory card cover was opened while accessing the memory card. Stop the Wi-Fi function and disconnect. |
| Wi-Fi connection terminated | - Interference from appliances may affect the wireless signal. Try moving away from them. - Too many devices accessing the access point may prevent connection. |
