Charging the Battery Pack

  1. Attach the ferrite core to the compact power adapter cable.
  2. Connect the compact power adapter to a power outlet.
  3. Connect the camcorder to the power adapter.
  4. Insert the battery pack. Charging starts when the camcorder is off.

Basic Preparations

  1. Attach the lens hood by aligning the groove and turning clockwise.

Using a Memory Card

  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Open the memory card slot cover.
  3. Insert the memory card into a slot and close the cover.

Setting the Date/Time and Language

  1. Set the camcorder to CAMERA mode.
  2. Change the date/time by touching fields and using the on-screen controls.
  3. Select the date/time format.
  4. Touch [OK].
  5. Select the desired language for menus and displays using the [FUNC.] and [MENU] buttons.

Shooting Video and Taking Photos

  1. Press the START/STOP button to start recording movies. Press again to pause.
  2. Touch [PHOTO] on the screen to take a photo.
  3. Use the zoom rocker or onscreen controls to frame your subject.

Playing Back Movies and Viewing Photos

  1. Set the camcorder to MEDIA mode.
  2. Change the index screen if necessary.
  3. Look for the desired scene or photo by dragging left or right.
  4. Touch the desired scene or photo to play back or view it.

Playback on a TV Screen

  1. Connect the camcorder to the TV using an HDMI or composite cable.
  2. Turn on the TV and then the camcorder. Set to MEDIA.
  3. Play back movies or photos as described previously.

Saving Your Recordings

It is recommended to periodically save your recordings using the Data Import Utility for AVCHD movies.
