To get the most out of your camcorder, read this manual thoroughly. Start by mastering the basic operations before moving on to its full range of features.
Basic Operations
- Powering the Camcorder: Use the power adapter connected to a household power socket or charge the battery pack.
- Loading a Cassette: Ensure a power source is attached, slide the OPEN/EJECT switch, insert the cassette gently, press the PUSH mark until it clicks, and close the cover.
- Basic Recording: Set the POWER switch to CAMERA, ensure the TAPE/CARD switch is set to TAPE, load a cassette, slide the program selector, and press the start/stop button to begin recording.
- Changing Recording Mode: Select between SP (standard play) and LP (long play) via the menu.
- 16:9 Wide Screen TV Recording: Enable this feature via the menu for playback on wide screen TVs.
Troubleshooting and error codes

| No Paper | Paper cassette is not correctly inserted or out of paper. |
| Paper Jam | The paper jammed during printing. |
| No Ink | The ink cartridge has not been inserted or has run out of ink. |
| Ink Cassette Error | The ink cassette is experiencing a problem. |
| Recharge the printer battery | The printer battery is depleted. |
| Communication Error | The printer is experiencing a data transmission error. |
| Could not print X images | Attempted to print images from another camcorder or with a different format or edits. |
| Cannot Print! | Attempted to print an image from another camcorder, in a different format, or one that has been edited on a computer. |
| Set print mark | Attempted to print an unmarked still image from the CARD PLAY menu. |
| Cannot trim | Attempted to trim an image with an image size of 160 x 120. |
| Readjust trimming | The style has been changed after trimming settings were set. |
| Paper has been changed | Paper size changed between print setting and start of printing. |
| Incompatible paper size | Attempted to print on paper that cannot be used with the camcorder. |
| Paper and ink do not match | Ink cannot be used with the selected paper type. |
| Printer In Use | Printer is printing data; will automatically start printing camcorder images after completion. |
| Printer Warming Up | Printer is warming up. It will start printing automatically when ready. |
| Low Ink Level | Ink tank needs replacement soon. Prepare a new ink tank. |
| Paper Level Error | Adjust the paper selection lever to the proper position. |
| Waste Tank Full | Restart printing by pressing RESUME/CANCEL. Request waste tank replacement. |
| Printer Cover Open | Close the front cover of the printer. |
| No Printhead | Install a print head in the printer. |
| Printer Error | Turn off and on again. If error persists, contact Canon support. |
| Media Type Error | Set the paper option in style setting to a compatible paper size. |
