Getting Started

To get the most out of your camcorder, master the basic operations first before exploring its full range of features.

Powering Your Camcorder

You can power the camcorder using the AC power adapter or by charging the battery pack. Ensure the camcorder is turned OFF before connecting/removing power sources.

Loading a Cassette

  1. Ensure a power source is attached.
  2. Slide the OPEN/EJECT switch to open the cassette compartment.
  3. Gently insert the cassette with the window facing the grip belt.
  4. Press the PUSH mark until it clicks to close the compartment.

Basic Recording

  1. Turn the POWER switch to CAMERA.
  2. Ensure the TAPE/CARD switch is set to TAPE.
  3. Slide the program selector to select the Easy Recording program.
  4. Press the start/stop button to begin recording.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Caution Phrases Description Action
SET THE TIME ZONE, DATE AND TIME Appears each time you turn the power on, until you set the time zone, date and time. Refer to p. 48
CHANGE THE BATTERY PACK Appears when the battery pack is exhausted. Refer to p. 129
TAPE END Appears when the tape has reached the end. Refer to p. 18
THE TAPE IS SET FOR ERASURE PREVENTION Appears as a warning to protect the cassette and also when condensation is detected. REMOVE THE CASSETTE
CHECK THE DV INPUT Appears when, during DV dubbing, the DV cable is disconnected or the power of the digital equipment connected to the camcorder is turned off. Refer to p. 134
