Warranty Information

Canon provides a limited one-year warranty for parts and labor, with a three-month warranty for video heads.

  • Getting Started: Charge the battery pack before use. Attach the battery pack to the camcorder. Plug the compact power adapter into a power outlet and connect it to the camcorder's DC IN terminal.
  • Inserting/Removing Tape/Card: Use Mini DV cassettes. Slide the OPEN/EJECT lever to open the cassette compartment, insert the cassette, and press the PUSH mark. For memory cards, turn off the camcorder, open the slot cover, insert the card, and close the cover.
  • Modes: The camcorder has different operating modes (CAMERA, PLAY) determined by the POWER switch and the switch.
  • Basic Functions: Recording movies, still images, playback, zooming.
  • Advanced Functions: Menu options for camera setup, VCR setup, audio setup, card operations, display setup.

Troubleshooting and error codes

No picture or distorted picture Camcorder not turned on. Turn on the camcorder.
No sound or distorted sound Volume is too low or off. Adjust the volume.
“HEADS DIRTY, USE CLEANING CASSETTE” message appears. Dirty video heads. Clean the video heads using a cleaning cassette.
Condensation detected. Sudden temperature change. Remove cassette, place in airtight bag, adjust to temperature slowly. Wait for condensation warning to stop flashing, then wait 1 more hour before resuming use.
