Canon USA warrants the equipment against defective materials or workmanship for one year for parts and labor.

Getting Started

  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Attach the battery pack to the camcorder by pressing it lightly and sliding it up until it clicks.
  3. Plug the compact power adapter into a power outlet.
  4. Connect the compact power adapter to the camcorder's DC IN terminal. The CHARGE indicator will flash during charging and stay on when complete.

Using the Wireless Controller

Point the controller at the camcorder's remote sensor. You can rotate the LCD panel 180 degrees to use the controller from the front.

NOTES: The controller may not work in direct sunlight. Check if [WL.REMOTE] is set to [OFF] if it doesn't work.

Fasten the grip belt

Adjust the grip belt for comfortable access to the zoom lever and Start/Stop button.

Mounting on a Tripod

Do not expose the viewfinder to direct sunlight as it may melt. Use tripods with screws no longer than 5.5 mm.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
The camcorder does not turn on. The battery pack is not attached or is depleted. Attach a fully charged battery pack or connect the compact power adapter.
The recorded picture is noisy or has other artifacts. The video heads are dirty. Clean the video heads using a cleaning cassette.
The image is blurry or out of focus. The lens is dirty or the focus is incorrect. Clean the lens. Adjust the focus manually or use autofocus.
The wireless controller does not work. The remote sensor is obstructed or the battery is depleted. Ensure the remote sensor is clear. Replace the battery in the wireless controller. Check the [WL.REMOTE] setting.
The CHARGE indicator does not light up. The compact power adapter is not connected properly or the battery pack is faulty. Ensure the adapter is securely connected. Try a different battery pack if available.
