Connecting the DNS-300 NAS to Your Network

1. Connect the power adapter to the DNS-300 and plug it into a power source. The Power LED will turn ON.

2. Connect an Ethernet cable from the DNS-300's LAN port to your router/switch/hub. The LAN Port LED will illuminate.

3. USB ports can connect one USB printer and one USB hard disk.

The Descriptions of LEDs

Various LEDs indicate the status of the Power, Local Network (LAN), HDD activity, and USB connection.

Setting Up the Hard Disk Drive

1. Loosen screws on the back of the DNS-300.

2. Remove the cover.

3. Plug the IDE/ATA cable into the HDD.

4. Connect the power connector to the HDD.

5. Tighten the HDD to the metal bracket.

6. Replace the cover and tighten screws.

Formatting the Hard Disk Drive

Use the D-Link Storage Configuration Utility to format the HDD. Install the utility from the CD-ROM, launch it, select the DNS-300, and click Manage to open a web browser for creation.

Using The Setup Wizard

Access the setup wizard by entering "192.168.0.101" in your web browser. Log in with username "admin" and no password. Follow the wizard to configure server name, password, networking, and time settings.

Your Setup is Complete!

Confirm settings to finalize configuration. A summary page will display the device information.
