Product Overview

The D-Link DNS-321 is a 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure designed to share documents, photos, music, and videos across a network and the internet. It supports two 3.5" SATA hard drives and offers features like RAID 1 mirroring for data protection, built-in FTP server, scheduled downloads, and UPnP AV streaming capabilities. The device can be configured using its web-based utility or the included Easy Search Utility.

Installation Hardware Setup

  1. Slide the faceplate up until it unlatches.
  2. Pull off the faceplate to expose the drive bays.
  3. Insert 3.5" SATA hard drives into the bays, ensuring they are properly seated.
  4. Attach the faceplate back to the front of the device.
  5. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port.
  6. Connect the power adapter to the power receptacle.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
The DNS-321 will not power on. The power adapter is not connected correctly. Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the DNS-321 and the power outlet.
Cannot connect to the DNS-321. Incorrect IP address configuration. Use the D-Link Easy Search Utility to locate the device on the network or check your network settings.
Drive lights are AMBER. A hard drive has failed. Replace the failed hard drive. If using RAID 1, the data is protected.
