Connecting the Camera

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to the camera and your network.
  2. Connect the power adapter to the camera and a power outlet.
  3. (Optional) Press and hold the WPS button on the camera for three seconds, then press the WPS button on your router to create a secure wireless connection.

Initial Setup

  1. Insert the Installation CD-ROM into your computer.
  2. Run the autorun program or setup.exe.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions of the Setup Wizard to configure your camera and register it with your mydlink account.

Accessing the Camera

  • mydlink Portal: Register your camera at www.mydlink.com to access it remotely.
  • Web Configuration: Access the camera's built-in web interface by entering its IP address in a web browser.
  • Live Video: View live video feeds through the mydlink portal or web interface.
  • Camera Settings: Configure various camera settings through the web interface.

Refer to the Troubleshooting section for solutions to common issues, such as remote access problems, forgotten passwords, or LED status.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
Remote Access Disabled Ensure the front LED is solid green, check Internet connection, verify router LAN/WAN connections, enable UPnP on router, ensure router has public IP, upgrade router firmware, reboot router, retry.
Forgot Password Perform a hard reset of the camera using the RESET button.
LED Not Lighting Up Verify the provided DC 5V power supply is used and correctly connected. Check if LED is disabled in settings (see page 37).
Unreliable Network Connection Check network cable, PING a known device. Ensure network devices (hub/switch) are functioning properly.
Works Locally, Not Remotely Check firewall settings, ensure no conflict with other web servers, verify router configuration allows remote access.
Vertical White Lines in Image Reposition camera to a shaded area due to bright light overload. Prolonged exposure may damage the CMOS sensor.
Noisy Images This may occur in very low light environments.
Poor Image Quality Ensure computer display is set to at least 6-bit color. Adjust Network Camera image display settings (brightness, contrast, etc.) via Web Configuration.
No Images via Web Browser Ensure ActiveX is enabled in Internet Options (for Internet Explorer). Upgrade Internet Explorer if version is less than 6.
