Operation Summary

Safety Key: Insert the safety key to enable operation. Remove it to disable the mower.

Starting the Mower:

  1. Ensure batteries are installed and seated.
  2. Close the battery port cover.
  3. Insert the safety key.
  4. Pull and hold the bail handle to the main handle.
  5. Press the power button. Release it once the mower starts but continue holding the bail handle.

Stopping the Mower: Release the bail handle.

Self Drive System (DCMWSP256 only): Press the self-drive lever towards the main handle to engage; release to disengage.

Speed Adjustment (DCMWSP256 only): Rotate the dial to adjust self-drive speed (turtle for slower, rabbit for faster).

Mowing Tips: Inspect area for debris, mow across slopes, avoid wet grass, and do not overload the mower.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Mower does not run when bail handle is activatedCheck if the safety key is installed and fully seated. Press the power button. Release the bail handle. Turn off the mower. Single touch handle will not lock in the storage positionEnsure the two storage latches protrude before lowering the single touch handle. Automatic drive motor stops while operatingTurn off the automatic drive. Clean the automatic drive motor housing of debris. Check if the wheels spin freely.
Mower operates, but cutting performance is unsatisfactory, or does not cut all the grassEnsure batteries are fully charged. Release the bail handle to turn off the mower. Remove the safety key and battery packs. Turn the mower over and check: Blade sharpness: Keep blades sharp. Check the discharge cover and deck for obstructions. The wheel cutting height adjustment may be too low for the grass condition. Elevate the cutting height. The blade sharpening indicator will illuminate when blades need servicing. Sharpen or replace blades. Release the bail handle to turn off the mower. Remove the safety key and battery packs. Raise the cutting height to reduce deck resistance in the grass. Check that each wheel rotates freely. If the overheat indicator is illuminated, allow the battery and mower to cool down. Re-start the mower and resume cutting at a higher deck setting. Release the bail handle to turn off the mower. Remove the safety key and battery packs. Turn the mower on its side and inspect the blade for damage. If the blade is damaged, replace it.
