  • Safety Rules: Read carefully, be familiar with controls, never allow children or unfamiliar people to use, never mow near people or pets, operator is responsible for accidents, no passengers, obtain professional instruction, be aware of slopes, avoid sudden stops/starts on slopes, keep speeds low on slopes, stay alert for humps/hollows, never mow across slopes unless designed for it.
  • Preparation: Wear substantial footwear, inspect area for thrown objects, handle fuel outdoors and away from ignition sources, refuel outdoors, never add fuel while engine is hot or running, avoid spilled fuel, replace fuel caps securely, replace faulty silencers, inspect blades and bolts, be aware of multi-bladed machines.
  • Operation: Do not operate in confined spaces, mow only in daylight or good artificial light, disengage blade clutches before starting, do not use on slopes >10°, be aware of slope hazards, use care with loads, do not turn sharply, reverse with care, use counterweights, watch for traffic, stop blades before crossing non-grass surfaces, never direct discharge at bystanders, never operate with defective guards, do not overspeed engine.
  • Before leaving operator's position: Disengage PTO, lower attachments, shift to neutral, set parking brake, stop engine, remove key.
  • For cleaning/maintenance: Disengage drive to attachments, stop engine, disconnect spark plug wire or remove key, inspect for damage after striking object, check for abnormal vibration.
  • Storage: Keep nuts/bolts tight, never store with fuel indoors, allow engine to cool, keep engine area free of debris/grease, check grass catcher, replace worn parts, drain fuel outdoors, be aware of rotating blades, lower cutting means when parked unless locked.
  • Battery Installation: Remove cover, connect positive terminal first, then negative, grease poles to prevent corrosion, replace cover.
  • Adjustments: Adjust gauge wheels, adjust cutting unit height, adjust side-to-side cutting unit.
