Microwave Cooking Advice

To cook or defrost food, ensure microwave energy can pass through the container. Use round/oval dishes for even cooking. Remember to turn, rearrange, or stir food for even heating and allow standing time after cooking. Consider food characteristics like composition, density, quantity, shape, and temperature for appropriate cooking times.

Cooking Techniques

  • Arrange: Place thickest parts towards the outside.
  • Cover: Use vented cling film or a lid.
  • Pierce: Foods with skin or membrane need piercing to prevent explosion.
  • Stir, turn, rearrange: Essential for even cooking.
  • Stand: Allows heat to disperse equally.
  • Shield: Use foil to shield warm areas during defrosting.

Microwave Safe Cookware

Refer to the table for approved cookware. Avoid metal, and use caution with plastic/polystyrene at high temperatures. Foil is for shielding only.

Microwave Power Levels

Six power levels are available, from HIGH (900W) for fast cooking to 90W for gentle defrosting. 0W is for the kitchen timer.

Add 30 seconds

Use the START/+30 button for direct start (30 seconds) or to extend cooking time.

Plus & Minus

Adjust cooking time for automatic programmes.

Grill, Dual Grill, and Auto Cook

Utilize these modes for grilling, browning, and automated cooking programmes.

Defrosting

Use manual defrost (270W) or Auto Defrost for various food types.
