Setting Up Your System

1. Prepare a safe location with a flat, hard surface, good air circulation, moderate environmental conditions, and no electromagnetic interference. Ensure access to appropriate power sources.

2. Verify the power cord compatibility with your region's outlets. Obtain a suitable replacement if necessary.

3. Set the voltage selector switch on the back of the computer to the correct input line voltage before powering on.

4. Install optional equipment like disk drives, memory modules, or EISA option cards as per Chapters 6 and 7.

5. Connect external devices (monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.) to the appropriate ports on the back panel.

6. Connect power cords for all devices to grounded electrical outlets.

7. Plug the computer's power cord into the AC inlet and then into the wall outlet.

8. Read safety rules for turning on the system.
