Setting Up Your System
- Choose a Location: Select a safe, convenient place with a flat, hard surface, good air circulation, moderate environmental conditions, and no electromagnetic interference.
- Remove Protective Card: If your computer has a 5.25-inch diskette drive, remove any protective card from the slot by lifting the latch.
- Connect a Monitor: Connect your VGA monitor to the computer's VGA port using the provided cables. If you have a non-VGA monitor, refer to the section on display adapter cards.
- Connect Peripherals: Connect a printer or other device to either the parallel or serial port according to the instructions.
- Connect Keyboard: Insert the keyboard connector into the keyboard port, ensuring the arrow faces up.
- Connect Mouse: Connect your IBM PS/2 compatible mouse to the auxiliary port.
Running the SETUP Program
After setting up the hardware, run the SETUP program to configure your computer. This involves setting options such as date, time, processor speed, and disk drive controllers. You can save or discard changes before exiting SETUP.
