Scanner Parts

The scanner includes a document table, cover with TPU indicator light, power button, carriage and lamp, and a USB port.

How to Scan

Press the Start button to open EPSON Smart Panel. Place document face down, align, close cover, and press Start. Select scan type and save location.

Starting a Scan

Scans can be started via scanner buttons (Web, Email, Copy, Start), the Smart Panel icon on the desktop, or from TWAIN-compliant programs like Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Selecting the Scanning Mode

EPSON Scan offers four modes: Full Auto, Home, Office, and Professional. Settings can be adjusted within each mode.

Restoring Color in Photos

Use the Color Restoration setting in Smart Panel (RePrint Photo) or EPSON Scan to improve faded photos or negatives.

Scanning Film and Transparencies

Remove the document mat, connect the film adapter cable, and insert film into the appropriate holder. Ensure the white triangle on the holder points to the upper-right corner of the scanner. Select the correct Document Type in EPSON Scan.

Indicator Light

Status indications: Green (ready), Flashing Green (initializing/busy), Flashing Red (error), Off (unplugged/off).

Troubleshooting and error codes

Light Color Status
On Green The scanner is ready to scan images.
Flashing Green The scanner is initializing (warming up) or is busy scanning.
Flashing Red Check the following, then turn your scanner off and back on to reset it:
  • Make sure the transportation lock is turned to the unlocked position. See the Start Here sheet for details.
  • Try restarting your computer and turning the scanner off and then on again.
If this does not eliminate the error, the fluorescent lamp may need to be replaced or the scanner may have another problem. Consult your dealer or EPSON.
Off The scanner is unplugged or turned off.
Privacy Policy
