The IP/POTS Communicator card transmits system status (alarms, troubles, AC loss, etc.) to a Central Station via the public switched telephone network and/or Internet protocol. It also allows remote programming or interrogation of the control panel using AlarmNet®. The installation involves disconnecting power, removing specific screws, replacing them with standoffs, inserting a plastic PCB spacer, connecting a cable between the main PCB and the IPOTS-COM, aligning the communicator, and snapping it into place. Finally, the original screws are reinstalled. Dip switches on the IPOTS-COM are for future use or factory settings and should not be altered unless instructed by Honeywell.
