Operating Your Washer

  1. Sort Laundry: Separate whites, lights, darks, lint-shedding from lint-attracting items, heavily soiled from lightly soiled, and delicate from durable items.
  2. Prepare Items: Empty pockets, brush off dirt, close zippers, tie sashes, mend tears, and turn knits inside out. Place delicates in a mesh bag.
  3. Pretreat Stains: Use the Stain Removal Guide for effective treatment.
  4. Add Laundry: Combine large and small items, but don't overstuff. Load large items first.
  5. Add Detergent: Use low-sudsing, high-efficiency detergent. Add liquid bleach or fabric softener to designated compartments.
  6. Select Cycle and Settings: Choose the appropriate cycle, temperature, spin speed, and soil level.
  7. Start Washer: Close the door and press Start. The door locks automatically.
  8. Touch Pause to Add Garment: Press Pause to add forgotten items.

Troubleshooting and error codes

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION PREVENTIVE MEASURES
Blue Stains Liquid detergent or fabric softener poured directly on fabric. If detergent is the cause, mix 1 cup (240 ml) white vinegar with 1 liter (4 cups) water, soak for 1 hour, rinse. If fabric softener is the cause, rub stains with bar soap, wash. Avoid adding excess detergent and fabric softener to dispenser compartments.
Discoloration, Dinginess Insufficient detergent. Water temperature too low. Improper sorting. Wash again with recommended detergent amount and hottest water safe for fabric. Add non-chlorine bleach if safe for fabric. Sort items by soil level and color. Use recommended detergent, hottest water safe for fabric, and non-chlorine bleach.
Greasy and Oily Stains Insufficient detergent. Undiluted fabric softener poured directly on fabric. Pretreat with prewash stain remover or liquid detergent. Increase detergent amount or water temperature. Wash again. Rub fabric softener stains with bar soap. Use recommended detergent amount and hottest water safe for fabric. Do not pour fabric softener directly on fabric.
Holes, Tears, or Snags Improper use of bleach. Zippers, fasteners, buckles not closed. Tears and broken threads. Overloading. Fabric degradation. May be irreversible if tears and seams cannot be repaired. Never pour bleach directly on fabric. Check items for damage before washing.
Lint Improper sorting. Tissues left in pockets. Overloading. Fabric degradation. Reduce load size. Wash again using recommended water and detergent amounts. Add water conditioner to rinse water to remove detergent residue. Add liquid fabric softener to final rinse. Tumble dry. Brush lint away or use a lint roller. Do not overload. Follow recommendations for water temperature, water amount, detergent amount, and wash duration.
