Before You Begin

Read all safety instructions and this manual before use. Familiarize yourself with the camera's parts and accessories. Learn how to charge the battery and insert it correctly. Understand how to attach the strap.

First Steps

Charging the Battery: 1. Place the NP-50 rechargeable battery into the BC-50 battery charger, ensuring correct orientation. 2. Plug the charger into a power outlet. The charging indicator will light red. 3. Charge until the indicator turns green. A full charge takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Inserting the Battery: 1. Open the battery-chamber cover. 2. Align the orange stripe on the battery with the orange battery latch and slide the battery into the camera, keeping the latch pressed. Ensure it is securely latched. 3. Close the battery-chamber cover.

Troubleshooting and error codes

CAN NOT EXECUTE RED EYE REMOVAL can not be used with movies, pictures created with other devices, pictures that can not be viewed, or pictures created using RED EYE REMOVAL.
CAN NOT EXECUTE An attempt was made to choose a flash mode or adjust the volume with the camera in silent mode. Exit silent mode before choosing a flash mode or adjusting the volume.
? CAN NOT EXECUTE A connection error occurred while pictures were being printed or copied to a computer or other device. Confirm that the device is turned on. Check that USB cable is connected correctly.
PRESS AND HOLD THE DISP BUTTON TO DEACTIVATE SILENT MODE
COMMUNICATION ERROR Check printer (see printer manual for details). To resume printing, turn the printer off and then turn it back on.
PRINTER ERROR Printer out of paper or ink, or other printer error.
PRINTER ERROR RESUME? Check printer (see printer manual for details). If printing does not resume automatically, press MENU/OK to resume.
CAN NOT BE PRINTED An attempt was made to print a movie, a picture not created with the camera, or a picture in a format not supported by the printer. Movies and some pictures created with other devices can not be printed. If the picture was created with the camera, check the printer manual to confirm that the printer supports the JFIF-JPEG or Exif-JPEG format. If it does not, the pictures can not be printed.
