Troubleshooting and error codes

Issue Check Points
When the ETERNUS AF Is Turned Off
  • Is the ETERNUS AF's power cord disconnected?
  • Has the server been turned off?
  • Is the main line switch of the power distribution unit turned OFF (O)?
  • Is there a power failure?
  • Has there been a recent main power failure?
When the ETERNUS AF Refuses to Turn On
  • Is the ETERNUS AF's power cord disconnected?
  • Is the main line switch of the power distribution unit turned OFF (O)?
  • Is there a power failure?
When the READY LED Is Not On Check ETERNUS AF model and configuration for expected power-on time. Contact maintenance engineer if READY LED is still not on after the specified time.
When the FAULT LED Is On
  • Is the PSU switch of the power supply unit for the drive enclosure in the OFF position (O)?
  • Is the main line switch of the power distribution unit turned OFF (O)?
When the FAULT LED Blinks A part of the ETERNUS AF requires preventive replacement. Contact your maintenance engineer.
When the DRIVE FAULT LED Is On Check the drive status. If the problem persists, contact your maintenance engineer.
When the ETERNUS AF Cannot Be Connected via a Network Service
  • Is the ETERNUS AF turned off?
  • Is the LAN cable disconnected?
  • Is the LAN cable connected to a LAN port of a controller with a MASTER LED not turned on?
  • Network device failures or invalid settings.
  • Invalid environment settings for network service.
  • Incorrect IP address.
  • Invalid ETERNUS AF LAN port (firewall) settings.
When I/O Access Is Slow
  • Check ambient temperature.
  • Check ETERNUS AF parts via ETERNUS Web GUI.
  • Check battery status.
  • Check path status using ETERNUS Multipath Manager or other tools.
  • Check ETERNUS AF load balance.
  • Check FC port transfer rate.
  • Check the number of command queues in the server.
  • Check server OS message log.
  • Check RAID group status.
  • Check cache parameter settings of the volumes.
When the Server Does Not Recognize the Volumes
  • Check the status of ETERNUS AF and connected devices.
  • Check for path errors using a path management tool.
When a Server HBA Fails and Needs to Be Replaced
  • FC: Replace the FC card on the server, then configure settings via ETERNUS Web GUI or CLI.
  • LAN Card: Replace the LAN card and confirm server access.
