Troubleshooting and error codes

Cause Troubleshooting
The cursor does not correctly follow the pen movements Calibrate the pen as shown under Hardware and Sound / Tablet PC Settings in the Control Panel, see "Setting the pen", Page 34 and "Calibrating the pen", Page 34.
Pen input not working Press the pen button gently to wake the pen from sleep mode. Insert the pen fully into its slot on the notebook to charge the pen battery.
The notebook cannot be started Connect the notebook to the mains voltage via the mains adapter and charge the battery. Check whether the mains adapter is connected correctly to the notebook. Switch the notebook on.
The notebook stops working Leave energy saving mode. Close the application program or restart the notebook (by restarting the operating system or switching the device off and back on again). Connect the notebook to the mains voltage via the mains adapter and charge the battery.
The printer does not print Make sure that the printer is switched on and ready for operation. Check that the data cable connecting the notebook to the printer is properly connected. Check whether the correct printer driver is loaded.
The wireless connection to a network does not work Switch the wireless component on. Check whether the wireless connection is switched on via the software. Further information on using the wireless component can be found in the help files.
The battery discharges too quickly Bring the notebook up/down to a normal temperature again. If the operating time of the battery life is extremely short, the battery is probably too old. Use the mains adapter as frequently as possible. Set the screen slightly darker.
SmartCard reader is not recognised. Check if you inserted your SmartCard into the SmartCard reader correctly. Check whether the SmartCard you are using is supported.
SmartCard PIN forgotten If you are working in a network, contact your system administrator.
SmartCard lost If you are working in a network, contact your system administrator.
Acoustic warnings (A beep sounds every few seconds) Charge the battery.
Error messages on the screen (e.g., CMOS battery bad, System configuration information incorrect) Follow the resolutions provided in the manual for specific error messages. This may involve contacting support, checking hardware, or adjusting BIOS settings.
