To turn the device on, hold the power button. To turn it off, hold the power button again. The device can also be turned on and off using the REC switch, which allows for quick recording start and automatic power-off to conserve battery.
The device operates in several modes: VIEWFINDER (camera view), PLAYBACK (viewing media), DASHBOARD (sensor data, VIRB Elite only), and SETUP (settings). Cycle through modes using the MODE button.
Slide the REC switch toward the lens to start recording video. The device will automatically turn on if it's off. To stop recording, slide REC away from the lens. Videos are saved as MP4 files.
You can take photos by selecting the capture button in the VIEWFINDER mode, holding the power button, or by selecting the capture icon while recording video.
Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable to transfer files. The device and memory card will appear as removable drives.
