Phone Operation

  • Receiving a Call: Lift handset or press SPEAKER when the phone rings. Adjust volume with VOL buttons.
  • Placing a Call: Lift handset or press SPEAKER, wait for dial tone, then dial number. Adjust volume with VOL buttons.
  • Switching Between Speaker/Handset: Speaker to Handset: Pick up handset. Handset to Speaker: Press SPEAKER, then hang up handset.
  • Temporary Tone Dialing: For pulse service, press TONE (*) button after dialing for tone services.
  • Flash: Press FLASH for call waiting/transfer services.
  • Redial: Press REDIAL to call the last number dialed.
  • Hold: Press HOLD to place a call on hold. Remove from hold by picking up handset, turning on speakerphone, or picking up an extension.
  • Volume: Adjust RINGER VOLUME and HANDSET RECEIVER VOLUME using VOL buttons.

Answering System Operation

  • The unit answers after a set number of rings, plays greeting, and records calls.
  • Answer calls before the unit answers, pick up during greeting/message, listen to messages (call screening), or disconnect by pressing STOP.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
No dial tone Verify installation steps. Ensure hook switch returns properly. Check dialing mode setting.
Phone does not ring Check volume levels. Consider disconnecting some phones if too many extensions are on the line.
Low volume on receiver/speaker Check volume levels.
Other person cannot hear you Check handset cord connection.
Memory dialing does not work Ensure numbers were entered correctly.
Answering system does not answer or answers on 10th ring Ensure answering system is on. Erase messages if memory is full. Check AC and phone line connections.
Incoming messages are incomplete Check if an extension was picked up. Ensure message length is programmed correctly. Memory may be full.
Does not respond to remote commands Ensure Touch-Tone dialing phone is used. Enter correct security code. Auto-hang up occurs after inactivity.
Answering system does not function Unplug and reconnect power. If "FLASH ERROR" persists, unit may need service.
Cannot hear messages Adjust volume control.
Greeting continues after extension is picked up This is normal. Press PLAY/STOP to suspend greeting.
No information displayed after phone rings Wait for second ring to view Caller ID. Check all connections. Subscription to Caller ID service is required.
Incorrect message displayed "ERROR" indicates invalid Caller ID information or line noise.
