Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
No dial tone.
  • Verify that the handset hook snaps upward.
  • Ensure the tone/pulse selector is programmed correctly.
The phone does not ring.
  • Check volume levels.
  • There may be too many phone extensions on your line (see FCC registration info for REN).
Handset and speaker volume too low.
  • Check volume levels.
The other person cannot hear you.
  • Is the handset or headset cord connected properly?
  • Ensure the MUTE function is off.
Memory dialing does not work.
  • Ensure numbers were entered correctly (see "Memory" section).
Answerer does not answer or answers on the tenth ring.
  • Ensure the answerer is turned on.
  • Memory is full, erase some messages.
  • Check AC power and telephone line connections.
Incoming messages are incomplete.
  • Did someone pick up an extension?
  • The caller left a message longer than the programmed duration.
  • Memory is full.
Does not respond to remote access commands.
  • Must use a touch-tone phone.
  • Enter the correct security code.
  • Unit may hang up if not operated for a period of time.
Answerer is not functioning.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the AC power cord to reset the answerer. If "FLASH ERROR" appears, contact service.
Cannot hear messages.
  • Adjust the volume control.
Greeting continues after an extension is picked up.
  • This is normal operation; Auto Disconnect has a 1-second delay. Press PLAY/STOP to suspend the greeting.
No information is displayed after the phone rings.
  • Ensure you wait to answer after the second ring.
  • Check all wiring for secure and undamaged connections.
  • Did you order Caller ID service from your phone company?
An error message is displayed.
  • "ERROR" appears if invalid Caller ID information is detected due to line noise or an invalid message from the phone company.
