Controlling Appliances:
Exercise extreme caution when using Z-Wave devices to control appliances. Unintentional activations could result in hazardous conditions. Recommended precautions include assigning appliances to specific device numbers (10-18) on the GE remote, removing them from "All" control settings, and avoiding inclusion in Groups or Scenes. Do not use Z-Wave devices for electric heaters or other appliances that pose a hazard if unintentionally powered on.
Wireless Range:
Z-Wave devices communicate wirelessly up to 65 feet in open air. Performance is affected by walls, construction materials, and the number of Z-Wave devices in the network, which act as repeaters to extend range. Walls and obstacles can reduce range by 25-30%.
Manual Control:
The 45609 switch allows for manual On/Off control by tapping the top or bottom of the rocker. The LED indicates the switch location in a dark room (default: ON when light is OFF).
Remote Control:
Control the On/Off status of connected lighting remotely via a Z-Wave controller/network. Add the switch to groups and/or lighting scenes using your primary controller.
Air Gap Switch:
A pull-out air gap switch on the lower left side completely disconnects power to the load for safe bulb replacement. It must be fully pushed in for normal operation.
