Using the Refrigerator

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Causes What to Do
Not Filtering Filter bypass installed Install correct water filter.
Reset Filter Indicator On Water filter is leaking or needs replacement Replace water filter, or install filter bypass**.
Water Filter Indicator Light Not On This is normal. Indicator will illuminate to indicate filter needs replacement. Press and hold Reset Filter for 3 seconds to reset (control D only). For more info, see Water Filter section.
Dispenser Handle Loose/Separated Handle needs adjustment See detailed instructions for adjusting Fresh Food or Freezer Handles.
Refrigerator Beeps Door alarm Turn off or deactivate with door closed**. If door is open and alarm is sounding, you can only stop the alarm.
Not Cooling Refer to Controls section. Dispense water until system is replenished.
Water has bad taste/odor* Dispenser not used for a prolonged period. Dispense water until system is replenished.
Water in glass is warm* Normal when first installed or after prolonged power outage. Wait 24 hours for refrigerator to cool completely.
Water dispenser not working* Water supply off or not connected. Refer to How to Install Water Supply section.
Water dripping from dispenser* Filter is clogged or filter/bypass plug not installed. Air trapped in water system. Replace filter cartridge or remove filter and install bypass plug**. Press dispenser arm for at least 5 minutes.
No water production or ice cubes* Water supply or shut-off valve are clogged. Filter is clogged. Filter not properly installed. Icemaker is off. Call a plumber. Replace filter cartridge or remove filter and install bypass plug**. Remove and reinstall filter, ensuring it locks in place. Ensure icemaker is on. Refer to Automatic Icemaker.
