Getting Started

  • Charging the Battery: Remove the camera from The Frame, insert a microSD card, and then insert the battery. Connect the camera to a computer or USB adapter using the included cable to charge.
  • Powering On/Off: Press the Power/Mode button once to power on. Press and hold for two seconds to power off.
  • Inserting/Removing microSD Cards: Slide the memory card into the slot with the label facing forward. To remove, press the card edge and it will pop out.

Camera Displays

  • The HERO4 Silver has a status screen on the front and a touch display on the back.
  • Camera Status Screen: Displays modes, settings, resolution, Protune status, files captured, time/storage, wireless status, and battery life.
  • Touch Display: Used for camera control, settings, previewing, and playback.
  • Gestures: Swipe left/right for modes, up from bottom edge for settings, up/down for lists, tap to select, down from top edge to close menus.

Camera Modes

  • Modes include Video, Photo, Multi-Shot, Playback, and Setup.
  • Swipe left or press Power/Mode to cycle through modes.

Navigating Settings Menus

  • Navigate using the touch display (swipe up from bottom to open, tap to select) or camera buttons (Power/Mode to cycle settings, Shutter/Select to cycle options).

Troubleshooting and error codes

Message Description
NO SD No card present. The camera requires a microSD, microSDHC or microSDXC card (sold separately) to capture videos and photos.
FULL Card is full. Delete files or swap card.
SD ERR Camera is unable to read card formatting. Reformat the card in the camera.
