Warranty Information

This manual provides information on the operation and features of the KP-DE500/KP-E500 cameras.

General Operation

This manual covers the operation of the HITACHI KP-DE500 and KP-E500 CCD Cameras. Before use, read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference. The cameras feature ultra-high sensitivity due to EM-CCD sensors, high color fidelity with RGB filters, and advanced digital signal processing.

Key Features:

  • Sensitivity: Ultra-high sensitivity with EM-CCD technology for low-light performance.
  • Image Quality: High color fidelity and vertical resolution.
  • DSP: New digital signal processor for improved S/N ratio.
  • Functions: Includes Auto Tracking White Balance (ATW), Digital Noise Reduction (DNR), Electric Shutter Speed, Sensitivity Enhance, Backlight Compensation (BLC), and Text Display (Character Generator).

Operating Considerations:

  • Power Supply: Use the specified power source. Turn off power before connecting/disconnecting.
  • Handling: Do not remove covers. Handle lenses carefully to avoid dust entry.
  • Installation: Avoid direct sunlight, rain/snow, corrosive gases, extreme temperatures (-10 to 50°C), humidity, dust, vibration, or strong electromagnetic fields.
  • Sunlight: Do not aim the camera lens at the sun to avoid vertical trailings and potential picture quality degradation.
  • Continuous Use: For long-term operation, keep the ambient temperature below 40°C to prevent deterioration of internal parts.
  • Cleaning: Use a blower or brush for dust removal. Wipe the case with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid harsh solvents.

CCD Phenomena:

Be aware of inherent phenomena like smear/blooming (blue belts from strong light), fixed pattern noise (high temperatures), moire (fine patterns), and burning (excessive intense light over time).

Troubleshooting and error codes

Troubleshooting and Inherent Phenomena
Phenomenon Description Cause/Notes
Smear and Blooming Thin blue belt in vertical/horizontal direction or momentary pure-white screen when shooting strong light. Caused by strong light sources (lamps, fluorescent lamps, reflected light). Change camera angle to avoid direct strong light.
Fixed Pattern Noise Appears on the entire screen. Occurs when the camera is operated in a high temperature environment.
Moire May be displayed when fine patterns are shot. Pattern interference.
Burning Deterioration of the spectral filter in the CCD pixel, causing color change in the affected portion. Caused by excessively intense light for a long time. Avoid using the camera under such conditions.
Vertical Trailings Appear when shooting strong light or scenes including strong light. Not a defect; occurs when strong light enters the camera. To avoid, do not aim lens at the sun or strong light sources.
