Warranty Information

Warranty service is available at any dealership displaying the Honda Power Equipment Engines sign.

To ensure safe operation:

  • Keep the engine at least 3 ft away from buildings and equipment.
  • Do not place flammable objects near the running engine.
  • Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped.
  • Do not overfill the fuel tank.
  • Clean up any spilled fuel before starting.
  • Avoid smoking or open flames near refueling areas.
  • Never run the engine in a closed garage or confined area due to carbon monoxide.
  • Operate the engine on a level surface.
  • Do not place anything on the engine.

Starting the engine:

  1. Turn the fuel valve to ON.
  2. Move the choke lever to CLOSE (unless the engine is warm or air is hot).
  3. Move the throttle lever slightly left.
  4. Turn the engine switch ON.
  5. Pull the starter grip briskly.
  6. For electric start, turn the switch to START and hold until the engine starts.

Operation:

  • As the engine warms up, gradually move the choke lever to OPEN.
  • Position the throttle lever for desired engine speed.

Stopping the engine:

  1. Move the throttle lever fully to the right.
  2. Turn the engine switch to OFF.
  3. Turn the fuel valve to OFF.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Engine will not start using recoil starter 1. Engine switch is OFF.
2. Oil alert lamp flashes (if equipped).
3. Fuel valve is OFF.
4. No fuel in the tank.
5. Gasoline not reaching the carburetor.
6. No spark at the spark plug.
1. Turn switch to ON.
2. Add engine oil.
3. Turn valve to ON.
4. Refuel.
5. Loosen drain screw with fuel valve ON.
6. Check/replace spark plug.
Engine will not start using electric starter 1. Battery cables not securely connected or corroded.
2. Battery not fully charged.
3. Starter motor operates but engine won't start.
1. Clean and secure cables.
2. Charge battery.
3. Follow recoil starter troubleshooting.
