Basic Operation

The RPLS540A/RPLS541A is a 7-day solar programmable wall switch designed to control lighting. It can operate in Manual, Automatic, or Random modes.

  • Manual Mode: Acts like a standard light switch; briefly press the main button to turn lights on/off.
  • Automatic Mode: Turns lights on/off according to programmed schedules (e.g., at sunset/sunrise or specific times). The sun icon indicates activation.
  • Random Mode: Simulates occupancy by randomly turning lights on/off within set durations.
  • Temporary Override: In Automatic or Random modes, briefly pressing the main button overrides the current program state until the next scheduled event or manual intervention.

The switch also features a safety switch for bulb replacement and allows for configuration of time, date, backlight, daylight saving, latitude/longitude, and correction factors.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause
The screen is blank. A light bulb is burned out. The safety switch is pulled out (see section 4).
The display is faded or irregular. The load is less than 40 W. The ambient temperature is either below or above the switch's operating temperature.
The metal plate is hot. This is normal with high loads (maximum of 500 W).
The sunset or sunrise time is inaccurate. The date or time is wrong (see section 5.2). The longitude or latitude is wrong (see section 5.3.3). The correction factor is wrong (see section 5.3.4). You have entered an offset (see section 5.4.3).
