| Scanner not reading symbols well | Scanner window is dirty. | Clean the window with a soft cloth or lens tissue dampened with water. |
| Symbols are smeared, rough, scratched, or have voids. | Ensure the barcode itself is clean and undamaged. | |

| Symbols are not enabled in the scanner or decoder. | Verify that the symbology is enabled (see Chapter 4). | |
| Bar code displayed but not entered | A suffix is needed to enter the data into the application. | Program a suffix (refer to CR/LF Suffix Settings, page 3-1). |
| Scanner reads bar code incorrectly | Scanner not programmed for the appropriate terminal interface. | Reprogram the scanner with the correct Plug and Play barcode (see Programming the Interface, page 2-1). |
