Getting Started

  • Install batteries and memory card.
  • Turn on the camera and set language, region, date, and time.
  • Install HP Photosmart Software on your computer.

Taking Pictures and Recording Video Clips

  • Slide the selector to Picture Capture or Video Record.
  • Frame your subject in the Image Display.
  • Press the Shutter button halfway to lock focus and exposure, then fully to take the picture or start recording.
  • Instant Review displays the last captured image or video.

Reviewing Images and Video Clips

  • Slide the selector to Playback.
  • Use the arrow buttons to scroll through images/clips.
  • Press the OK button to view a video clip.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Issue Solution
My camera stalls when establishing a connection to the computer.
  • Your memory card may have a large number of images stored on it. Allow up to 5 minutes for connection.
  • Ensure the USB cable is properly connected.
  • Try another USB port.
  • Turn the camera off and on again. If the problem persists, reset the camera.
  • Contact HP Support if the problem persists.
I cannot transfer images from the camera to my computer.
  • Install HP Photosmart Software or refer to 'Transferring images without HP Photosmart Software'.
  • Set your camera to act as a Disk Drive and follow connection steps.
I get an error message when transferring images to my computer.
  • A power surge or electrostatic discharge may have affected the camera. Close software, disconnect camera, and reset the camera.
  • Restart the image transfer process.
The HP Photosmart Software takes a long time before it is ready to transfer images from my camera.
  • Having a large number of files stored on an optional memory card affects transfer time. Transfer all images and then format the card.
I am having a problem installing or using the HP Photosmart Software.
