Getting Started

Follow these steps to set up your HP Photosmart R967 Digital Camera:

  1. Install the Battery: Open the battery/memory card door, insert the battery, and close the door.
  2. Charge the Battery: Connect the AC power adapter to the dock and plug it into an outlet. Place the camera in the dock. The charging light indicates the battery is charging.
  3. Turn on the Camera: Press the ON/OFF button.
  4. Choose Language and Region: Use the arrow buttons and OK to select your preferred language and region.
  5. Set Date and Time: Use the arrow buttons and OK to set the correct date and time.
  6. Install and Format Memory Card: Insert an optional memory card and format it if necessary.
  7. Install Software: Install the HP Photosmart Software from the CD for transferring and editing images.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
Images are missing on my camera. Remove the memory card and check internal memory. Transfer images if found.
Power light on, but display off or camera stuck. Press Live View/Playback to reactivate display. Reset the camera.
Camera responds sluggishly when reviewing images. Refer to Storage and Memory capacity sections for tips.
Video recording terminates abruptly, but saves. Choose lower resolution or faster memory card.
Video recording terminates abruptly and won't play back. Reformat the memory card.
Camera gets warm. Normal operation. Turn off if unusually hot. Store in a cool place.
Camera stalls when connecting to computer. Check USB cable connection, try another port, restart camera, or reset camera. Contact HP Support if issues persist.
Cannot transfer images. Install HP Photosmart Software or transfer without it. Set camera as Disk Drive.
Error message during image transfer. Close software, remove camera from dock, reset camera. Restart transfer process.
Camera shuts down unexpectedly or shows "Bad Data Access Error". Power surge may have affected camera. Remove battery, reset camera, reinstall battery, and turn on. Try replacing battery if problem persists.
Problem installing/using HP Photosmart Software. Check computer meets system requirements. Refer to HP Customer Care website.
