Refer to the Safety and Regulatory documentation for warranty information.
1. Unpack and Check: Verify all included parts are present: documentation kit, switch, console cable, accessory kit, and AC power cord.
2. Prepare for Installation: Review "Safety Precautions" on page 4.
3. Power On and Self-Test: Connect the AC power cord to power on the switch. The switch has no power switch. Verify the Power LED is On, and Fault and Test LEDs are Off. Unplug the switch after verification.
4. Install Modules (Optional): Install 10 Gbps network connectivity or high-speed stacking modules on the back of the switch.
5. Install Switch Hardware: Securely mount the switch in a rack using provided hardware or attach self-adhesive pads for desktop mounting. Ensure power is unplugged before installation.
6. Connect Network Cables: Connect network cables to the RJ-45 ports or SFP transceiver slots. Use only HP supported transceivers.
7. Connect Stacking Cables (Optional): If stacking multiple switches, connect them using HP 2920 Stacking Modules and cables. Ensure the pull tab is on top when connecting.
8. Power On the Switch: Power on the switch as shown in step 3.
9. Configure Switch (Optional): By default, the switch obtains IP configuration via DHCP/BootP. It can also be managed via console port connection using the supplied serial cable or an optional USB console cable.
