Loading and Using Your ILFORD Sportsman Camera:
1. Loading: Ensure the camera back is opened by sliding the locking catch. Pull out the rewind knob, place the film cassette, and thread the film onto the take-up spool, ensuring it engages with a perforation. Close the camera back. Operate the film lever-wind three times to advance the film. Check the rewind knob turns to confirm correct film movement. Set the exposure counter and film speed reminder disc.
2. Focusing: For Vario and Pronto models, rotate the focusing ring until the subject distance aligns with the index mark. For the Rangefinder model, align the two overlapping images in the viewfinder by rotating the focusing ring.
3. Exposure: Set the shutter speed by rotating the outer ring on the lens panel. Adjust the aperture using the small lever on the lens mounting. Refer to exposure tables for guidance.
4. Taking a Picture: Hold the camera firmly, frame the subject using the viewfinder, and press the shutter release. After exposure, immediately operate the film lever-wind to advance the film for the next shot. Control the lever's return smoothly.
