Troubleshooting and error codes

Possible Cause Remedy
Power cannot be turned on. Check if the power cord is plugged in.
Tape does not move when PLAY button is pressed. Check if the PAUSE button is pressed (deck B).
Playback sound is low. Check if batteries are run down. Check if head section is dirty. Check if TAPE switch is set correctly (during playback).
Sound quality is poor. Check if TAPE switch is set correctly.
REC button cannot be pressed. Check if safety tabs of cassette tape are removed. Check if cassette is loaded.
CD loaded, but total tune number and total playback time are not displayed. Check if disc is upside down, dirty, damaged/warped, or if the lens is dirty or has condensation.
No sound from speakers. Check if headphones are connected.
Tape speed is irregular (wow and flutter). Check if pinch roller or capstan is dirty. Check if batteries are run down.
High-speed dubbing cannot be performed. Check if FUNCTION switch is set correctly.
Moisture formation inside the deck (after moving from cold to warm place). Wait 1-2 hours for normal operation to be restored.
