  • Power On/Off: Press the STANDBY/ON button on the front panel or remote control.
  • Source Selection: Use the DVD, FM/AM, or AUX buttons on the remote or the SOURCE button on the front panel to select the desired input.
  • Disc Playback (DVD/VCD/CD/MP3/JPEG): Load a disc into the tray, then press the Play button. Use navigation buttons for chapters, tracks, or files.
  • Tuner Operation: Select FM/AM band, then use TUNING UP/DOWN buttons to find stations.
  • Surround/DSP Modes: Press SURROUND or DSP buttons to activate different sound field modes.
  • Volume Control: Use AUDIO VOL +/- on the remote or VOLUME control on the front panel.
  • External Component Input: Select AUX as the source and connect your external device.
  • TV Connection: Connect via Composite Video, S-Video, or SCART cable.
  • Picture Adjustment: Use the CHOICE button and cursor keys to adjust Brightness, Edges, Color, and Contrast.
  • Sleep Timer: Set a timer to automatically turn off the system.

Troubleshooting and error codes

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Power does not come on. The power cord is not plugged in. Insert the plug into the socket.
The remote control does not work. • It is too far from the center unit, or is not facing the center unit.
• There is something obstructing the remote sensor.
• Come close to the center unit.
• Avoid any obstacles.
No sound. • The CONTROL VCR or CONTROL TV button has been pressed.
• The battery is flat.
• The battery has been inserted the wrong way round (+/-).
• Sunlight is falling directly on the detector.
• Press DVD, FM/AM or AUX to operate the system. (See page 58)
• Replace the battery.
• Insert the battery correctly.
• Shade the remote control from direct sunlight.
Sound is emitted from only one speaker. • There is a short in the speaker cord.
• The audio cord is not connected properly.
• An incorrect source has been selected.
• Reconnect the speaker cord.
• Connect the cord properly. (See page 8.)
• Select the correct source. (See pages 10 to 16.)
No video. • Muting is on.
• The disc is copy-protected CD.
The speaker cord is not connected correctly.
The video cord is not connected properly.
• TV input selection is incorrect.
• Press MUTING to cancel muting.
• Replace the disc.
Connect the cord properly. (See page 7.)
Connect the cord properly. (See page 9.)
• Select the correct input.
A disc cannot be played. The system and disc region code numbers are incompatible.
• The disc causes the parental (rating) error.
• Replace the disc. (See page 22.)
• Enter password to change the parental (rating) level. (See page 57.)
"Error" appears on the TV screen. • The CD-R/RW is not recorded in the audio CD format, MP3 format, or JPEG format.
• The disc is dirty.
• Replace the disc.
Clean the disc.
Video and audio are distorted. • A VCR is connected between the center unit and the TV. Connect the center unit and TV directly.
The moving picture is noisy. • \"Pause/Still\" mode may not be set appropriately for the current disc. Select \"Field\" on \"Pause/Still\" mode. (See page 54.)
The edge is missing on the video image. • Initial setup (Monitor Type) was incorrect. Set Monitor Type correctly. (See page 54.)
Continuous static during FM broadcasts. • The received signal is too weak.
• The station is too far away.
The antenna is not connected correctly.
• Connect an external FM antenna (see page 5), or contact your dealer.
• Select another station.
• Check the connection. (See page 5.)
The system does not work correctly. Lightning or electronic noise interferes with operation of the microcomputer.
• Immediately after beginning to heat the room, the unit was moved to a cold location causing condensation to form inside.
• Switch power off, and remove and re-insert the power plug in the socket.
• Switch power off and leave the unit a few hours before switching power on again.
The VCR cannot be operated using this remote control. • The remote control is not set for VCR operations.
• The VCR is not a JVC's product.
• Press CONTROL VCR to operate the VCR. (See page 58.)
• This remote control can operate a JVC's VCR whose remote control code is set to A code.
