Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem: No power is supplied. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Power not connected properly: Connect AC Adapter securely.
- Battery pack not attached firmly: Detach and re-attach firmly.
- Battery is dead: Replace with a fully charged one.
Problem: Recording cannot be performed. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Tape's erase protection tab set to "SAVE": Set to "REC".
- "TAPE END" appears: Replace with new cassette.
- Cassette holder cover is open: Close the cassette holder cover.
Problem: When shooting a subject illuminated by bright light, vertical lines appear. Solution: This is not a malfunction.
Problem: When the screen is under direct sunlight during shooting, the screen becomes red or black for an instant. Solution: This is not a malfunction.
Problem: The LCD monitor or viewfinder indications blink. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Effects functions that cannot be used together are selected: Re-read sections covering Effects.
Problem: The tape is moving, but there is no picture. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- TV has AV input terminals but is not set to VIDEO mode: Set TV to appropriate mode/channel.
- Cassette holder cover is open: Close the cassette holder cover.
Problem: Blocks of noise appear during playback, or there is no playback picture and the screen becomes blue. Solution: Clean the video heads with an optional cleaning cassette.
Problem: The focus does not adjust automatically. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Focus is set to Manual mode: Set Focus to Auto mode.
- Lens is dirty or covered with condensation: Clean the lens and check the focus again.
Problem: The colour of Snapshot looks strange. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Light source or subject does not include white, or various light sources behind subject: Find a white subject and compose your shot so that it appears in the frame.
Problem: The POWER/CHARGE lamp on the camcorder does not light during charging. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Charging difficult in extreme temperatures: Charge between 10°C to 35°C.
- Battery pack not attached firmly: Detach and re-attach firmly.
Problem: The image looks like the shutter speed is too slow. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- When shooting in dark, "GAIN UP" is set to "AUTO": Set "GAIN UP" to "AGC" or "OFF".
Problem: Images on the LCD monitor appear dark or whitish. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Low temperature characteristics of LCD monitor: This is not a malfunction. Adjust brightness and angle.
- LCD monitor's fluorescent light reached end of service life: Consult your nearest JVC dealer.
Problem: Picture does not appear on the LCD monitor. Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Viewfinder pulled out and "PRIORITY" set to "FINDER": Push viewfinder back in or set "PRIORITY" to "LCD".
- LCD monitor's brightness setting is too dark: Adjust the brightness of the LCD monitor.
