Getting Started

  • Power: Charging the battery pack or using AC power.
  • Grip & Viewfinder Adjustment: Customize for comfortable shooting.
  • Strap & Tripod Mounting: Securely attach the camcorder.
  • Date/Time Settings: Set the internal clock.
  • Cassette Loading: Insert and eject Mini DV cassettes properly.
  • Recording Mode: Select between SP (Standard Play) and LP (Long Play).
  • Memory Card: Load and unload SD/MultiMediaCards for still images.
  • Picture Quality: Choose between FINE and STANDARD settings.

Video Recording

  • Basic Recording: Start and stop recording, adjust display brightness.
  • Journalistic Shooting & Self-Recording: Utilize flexible camera angles and self-monitoring.
  • Operation Modes: Select between Manual (M) and Full Auto (A) for recording.
  • Zooming: Use the Power Zoom Lever for magnification.
  • Video Light: Brighten scenes in low light conditions.
  • Time Code: Records location data for editing.

Video Playback

  • Normal Playback: Watch recorded content.
  • Still/Shuttle/Frame-By-Frame Playback: Navigate through recordings.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Indications Function
Battery Indicator Displays the battery remaining power. Remaining power level: high, low, exhausted. Battery indicator blinks when power is low. Turns off automatically when exhausted.
No Tape Indicator Appears when no tape is loaded.
CHECK TAPE'S ERASE PROTECTION TAB Appears when the erase protection tab is set to "SAVE" while in VIDEO mode.
Head Cleaning Required Appears if dirt is detected on the heads during recording. Use an optional cleaning cassette.
CONDENSATION OPERATION PAUSED PLEASE WAIT Appears if condensation occurs. Wait until it disappears.
TAPE! Appears if a tape is not loaded when Recording Start/Stop or Snapshot is pressed in VIDEO mode.
TAPE END Appears when the tape ends during recording or playback.
DIFFERENT FORMATTED TAPE Appears if a tape in another format is loaded.
SET DATE/TIME! Appears when the date/time is not set or the built-in clock battery is depleted. Consult dealer for replacement.
LENS CAP Appears for 5 seconds after power on if the lens cap is attached.
A. DUB ERROR! <CANNOT DUB ON A LP RECORDED TAPE> <CANNOT DUB ON A 16BIT RECORDING> <CHECK TAPE'S ERASE PROTECTION TAB> Appears if Audio Dubbing is attempted on a blank portion, LP recorded tape, 16-bit audio tape, or when erase protection is set to "SAVE".
INSERT ERROR! Appears if Insert Editing is attempted on a blank portion of a tape, LP mode tape, or when erase protection is set to "SAVE".
MEMORY IS FULL Appears when the memory card is full and shooting is not possible.
COPYING FAILED Appears during dubbing of copyguarded signals, or when dubbing from tape to memory card (no card, full card, unformatted card, copy-protected card), or from memory card to tape (condensation, no tape, erase protection, wrong format, tape end).
MEMORY CARD! Appears when a memory card is not loaded during SNAPSHOT in DSC mode.
PLEASE FORMAT Appears if there is a problem with a memory card or it is not initialized. Initialize the memory card.
NO IMAGES STORED Appears if there are no images stored in the memory card during DSC playback.
CARD ERROR! Appears when the camcorder takes too long to recognize the memory card. Remove and reinsert the card. If persists, the card may be corrupted.
CHECK CARD'S WRITE PROTECTION SWITCH Appears when attempting to shoot digital still images with a copy-protected SD Memory Card.
E01-E06 Error indications showing malfunction type. Turn off unit, remove power supply, wait, then reconnect. Consult dealer if indication remains.
