  • Charging the Battery Pack: Connect the AC Power Adapter/Charger to the camcorder and an AC outlet. Attach the battery pack to the adapter; the CHARGE indicator will blink, then stay lit when charging is complete.
  • Using AC Power: Connect the AC Power Adapter/Charger to the camcorder and an AC outlet.
  • Grip Adjustment: Separate the Velcro strap, pass your hand through the loop, grasp the grip, and adjust for easy operation of buttons.
  • Viewfinder Adjustment: Set the POWER switch to CAMERA, pull out the viewfinder, and adjust the Dioptre Control for a clear image.
  • Date/Time Settings: Navigate through the menu to set the date and time using the MENU wheel.
  • Loading/Unloading a Cassette: Power on the camcorder, open the cassette holder cover, insert or remove the cassette, and close the cover.
  • Recording Mode Setting: Select the recording mode (SP or LP) via the MENU screen.
  • Loading a MultiMediaCard: Ensure the camcorder is off, open the card cover, insert the card, and close the cover.
  • Picture Quality/Size Setting: Use the IMAGE SIZE/RES. button to select the desired mode (XGA FINE, XGA STD, VGA FINE, VGA STD).
  • Operation Modes: Select CAMERA, OFF, or PLAY/PC using the POWER Switch. Use the Operation Switch for MANUAL (M) or FULL AUTO (A) recording.
  • MODE Dial: Choose DUAL, VIDEO, PS, or DSC modes for different recording functions.
  • Basic Recording for Video: Set MODE Dial to VIDEO, POWER switch to CAMERA, then press START/STOP to record.
  • Snapshot (For Video Recording): Select SNAP MODE via the menu, then press SNAPSHOT button to capture still images.
  • Basic Shooting (Snapshot): Set MODE Dial to DSC, POWER switch to CAMERA, press SNAPSHOT halfway to preview, then fully to capture and save to MultiMediaCard.
  • Zooming: Use the Power Zoom Lever to zoom in (T) or out (W).
  • Recording From The Middle Of A Tape: Play back or use Blank Search to find the spot, then start recording from that point.
  • Progressive Mode Recording: Set MODE Dial to PS, POWER switch to CAMERA, then press START/STOP to record jitter-free images.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Indications Function
Battery Indicator Displays the battery remaining power.
Remaining power level: high
Remaining power level: exhausted
As the battery power comes close to nil, the battery indicator blinks. When the battery power is exhausted, power turns off automatically.
No Tape Loaded Appears when no tape is loaded. (☞ pg. 10)
CHECK TAPE'S ERASE PROTECTION SWITCH Appears when the erase protection tab is set to “SAVE” while the POWER Switch is set to "CAMERA". (☞ pg. 10)
Head Cleaning Appears if dirt is detected on the heads during recording. Use an optional cleaning cassette. (☞ pg. 94)
CONDENSATION OPERATION PAUSED PLEASE WAIT Appears if condensation occurs. When this indication is displayed, wait more than 1 hour until condensation disappears.
TAPE! Appears if a tape is not loaded when START/STOP is pressed while the POWER Switch is set to “ CAMERA" and the MODE Dial is set to “VIDEO", "PS" or " DUAL". (☞ pg. 17)
TAPE END Appears when the tape ends during recording or playback. (☞ pg. 17)
DIFFERENT FORMATTED TAPE Appears if a tape in another format is loaded.
SET DATE/TIME! • Appears when the date/time is not set. (☞ pg. 9)
• Appears when the built-in clock (lithium) battery is discharged and the previously set date/time is erased. (☞ pg. 9)
A. DUB ERROR! Appears if Audio Dubbing is attempted on a blank portion of a tape. (☞ pg. 76)
A. DUB ERROR! <CANNOT DUB ON A LP RECORDED TAPE> <CANNOT DUB ON A 16BIT RECORDING> <CHECK TAPE'S ERASE PROTECTION SWITCH> • Appears if Audio Dubbing is attempted on a tape recorded in the LP mode. (☞ pg. 76)
• Appears if Audio Dubbing is attempted on a tape recorded in 16-bit audio. (☞ pg. 76)
• Appears if A. DUB () on the remote control is pressed when the erase protection tab is set to “SAVE”. (☞ pg. 76)
MEMORY IS FULL Appears when the MultiMediaCard's memory is full and shooting is not possible.
