Operation Modes

This camera recorder has four operation modes: Camera mode, Media mode, USB mode, and Remote Edit mode. Camera Mode: This is the primary shooting mode. Images are output to the viewfinder and LCD. The camera enters standby mode when a recordable SD card is inserted. Press the [REC] trigger to start recording. Media Mode: Allows playback and deletion of clips on the SD card. Thumbnails of clips are displayed on the viewfinder and LCD. USB Mode: Connects to a PC to transfer files from the SD card. The recorder is recognized as a peripheral drive by the PC. Remote Edit Mode: Enables clip list display and editing via a web browser on a smartphone, tablet, or PC. Allows access to clip lists and metadata editing.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Symptom Action
Power does not turn on. Is the AC adapter properly connected? Is the battery charged? Make sure to wait for an interval of at least 5 seconds before turning on the power again.
Unable to start recording. Is the record trigger button/lock switch on the handle turned on? Is the write-protect switch of the SD card turned on? Make sure that the write-protect switch is turned off. Is the camera recorder set to the Camera mode? Is the SD card inserted compatible with the recording format?
Camera image is not output on the LCD monitor and viewfinder screen. Is the camera recorder set to the Camera mode? Use the [MODE] selection button to switch to the Camera mode.
Playback does not start after selecting a clip thumbnail and pressing the Set button (●). Is the selected clip a playable clip? Playback is not possible if the clip has a different video format setting.
No sound during playback. Is the currently played clip recorded in the Variable Frame Rec mode?
Images on the LCD monitor and viewfinder screen appear dark or blurred. Readjust the brightness of the LCD monitor and viewfinder. Check ND filter, iris, and shutter speed settings. Adjust peaking.
The [CH1/CH2] recording level adjustment knob does not work. Check the [CH1/CH2 AUTO/MANUAL] switch setting. Check the [FULL AUTO] switch setting. Check the [Audio On FULL AUTO] setting.
SD card cannot be initialized (formatted). Make sure that the write-protect switch of the SD card is turned off.
Battery alarm appears even after loading a charged battery. Is the battery too old?
The time code and user's bit are not displayed. Check the [LCD/VF] → [Display Settings] → [TC/UB] setting. To display time code or user's bit, set it to "TC” or “UB”.
The date and time are not displayed. The date and time are only displayed on the Display 1 and Display 2 screens in the Camera mode. Check [System] → [Record Set] → [Time Stamp] setting.
Incorrect display on the viewfinder. Is the LCD monitor used with [LCD/VF] → [LCD + VF] set to “Off”?
The actual recording time is shorter than the estimated time. The recordable time may be shorter depending on the shooting conditions or the subject.
The two camera recorders are not synchronized even though the time codes have been synchronized. (Slave device is not displayed.) Check the [TC IN/OUT] switch setting. Set [System] → [Record Set] → [Record Format] → [A Frame & Bit Rate] to ensure the same frame rate.
Cannot connect to wireless LAN. Check connection mode and settings ([SSID] and [Passphrase]). Adjust [Passphrase] if incorrect.
The View Remote screen turns black. The screen flickers. The screen freezes. Cannot perform remote operation. The network path may be congested. Wait before refreshing the web browser.
The clips cannot be uploaded to the FTP server. Adjust [Clip Server] settings. Check the maximum clip size limit. Refer to FTP transfer error list.
The wireless LAN is disconnected. Change usage environment. Connect via wired LAN.
GPS signal cannot be received. Signal reception may be affected by buildings or trees. Perform positioning at an unobstructed location.
The position is not accurate. Precision error may occur if the GPS signal is weak or reflected off surrounding buildings.
